Gotham Park Project
Over the winter period the park was still being used, making the most of the sunny days and getting out in the fresh air. As a Christmas fundraiser, Martin and Deb Howick kindly organised a Christmas dinner dance at the Rushcliffe Golf Club. The evening was a black tie and posh frock do, with everyone looking very dapper and glam. We had a lovely 3 course meal served to our tables. Over the course of the evening there was a raffle, with 3 main prizes, our prizes consisted of a 3rd prize luxury hamper. The 2nd prize was a meal for 4 and wine kindly donated by The Generous Britain in Costock. Then our 1st prize was a weeks holiday in Spain, this was generously donated by Phil and Jackie Humphrey. A huge thank you to all who donated to the raffle and bought tickets, Well Done to the 3 winners, we hope you enjoyed your prizes. Throughout the evening, Martin organised some games. Each table created a hat and an animal using modelling balloons. Then selecting one person from each table to go and model them, this was a fun game! After a lot of laughter, food and drink the band played us into the night with some good dancing tunes, filling the dance floor until the night was done. This fabulous evening and from some donations we raised £2516. Thank you Martin and Deb for organising this.
We’d also like to say a massive thank you to Bobby and Sammy Chapman of Rushcliffe Fencing Ltd for their very generous donation of £1000. All these donations go along way to helping us reach our total. Also, since our last article we have also secured funding from Wren for £16,000. Well done Pat for writing this funding application.
We managed to get £559 from the Gotham Gala committee. As well as receiving £750 from the community support scheme. With all these amazing donations, fundraisers and funding applications our latest total is around £61,000. I hope you’ll all agree is an amazing achievement.
We are now only £19,000 away from our target of £80,000. To say our small park committee has only been doing this for 22 months, we think it is an astonishing total so far and can’t wait to hit the target. We’d love to have the new park up and running by the end of this year.
Please keep supporting us to the end!
