Christmas is a time of giving and receiving, a time when we exchange gifts with those we love and care about. Each year many people in our 5 villages support the work of Samaritan’s Purse by filling shoeboxes with gifts and tokens of love which are then sent to children around the world; children who we will never meet, they will never write a thank you letter, but will experience love and joy because of it.
The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Shoeboxes are always given to children based on need, regardless of their background or religious beliefs. It’s an unconditional gift of love that we hope you will join in with.
In October leaflets are given out with ‘Messenger’, our Parish Magazine, to all houses in our 5 villages encouraging them to get involved again this year. And then on November 19th, at Gotham Church, we will collect in all your shoeboxes. If you can’t get to this service then please drop off your shoebox into Gotham church on any Saturday morning before November 18th.
If you have problems getting hold of a shoebox then we have some flat packed shoeboxes that you can buy from us at a cost of 50p each.
On behalf of the children who will receive your gifts and the people who volunteer to deliver them, thank you.
